Short version: Collectorly stores your collection on your Mac and optionally syncs it to your private iCloud account. We collect no personal data, run no analytics, and have no servers of our own.
Your collection data — item names, conditions, prices, photos, notes, and related details — is stored in one of two places depending on your iCloud status:
~/Library/Application Support/Collectorly/ on your MaciCloud sync is automatic when you are signed into iCloud on your Mac. You can disable it entirely in System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Collectorly.
When iCloud sync is active, your collection data is stored in your private CloudKit database — a portion of your iCloud account that only you can access. Apple hosts this data under their standard iCloud privacy terms. Collectorly does not have access to your iCloud data; it flows directly between your devices and Apple's servers.
This enables the same collection to be read by a future iOS version of Collectorly on the same iCloud account.

If you configure a PriceCharting or eBay API token, those credentials are stored in macOS UserDefaults, sandboxed to Collectorly. They are never transmitted to any server other than the service they authenticate with (PriceCharting or eBay).
Collectorly makes outbound network requests only when you trigger a lookup or price fetch:
| Service | Purpose | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| UPC Item DB api.upcitemdb.com |
Barcode → item name lookup | Barcode number only |
| PriceCharting pricecharting.com |
Market price lookup | Item name + your API token |
| eBay Browse API api.ebay.com |
Market price lookup | Item name + your App/Cert ID |
| Apple CloudKit apple.com/icloud |
Collection sync (optional) | Your collection data, to your private iCloud |
No personally identifiable information is included in any of these requests beyond what is described above.
Collectorly contains no analytics SDKs, crash reporters, advertising networks, or behavioral tracking of any kind. The developer receives no telemetry from the app.
Collectorly does not require you to create an account or log in. iCloud sync uses your existing Apple ID and requires no separate sign-up.
Collectorly requests camera access to scan barcodes and take item photos. Camera access is used only while the scanner or camera capture sheet is open. No images are transmitted anywhere — photos are stored locally and optionally synced to your private iCloud.
To delete all local data: remove the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Collectorly/ and delete the app.
To delete iCloud data: go to System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Collectorly and delete the data there, or sign out of iCloud before deleting the app.
Collectorly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date above will be updated. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
